EU's Clean Hydrogen Strategy and Compliance Markets for Climate Neutrality

Here are some key regulations and initiatives that mandate the use of clean hydrogen and support compliance markets:

➊ 𝐄𝐔 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲: This strategy, part of the European Green Deal, aims to make hydrogen a key component of the EU's energy system. It includes measures to boost clean hydrogen production and use.

➋ 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 (𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐈𝐈𝐈): This directive, adopted in 2023, sets a new binding renewable energy target for the EU at a minimum of 42.5% by 2030. It promotes the use of renewable hydrogen produced through electrolysis powered by renewable energy sources.

➌ 𝐄𝐔 𝐄𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 (𝐄𝐔 𝐄𝐓𝐒): This main compliance market system where companies can trade carbon credits, is a cornerstone of the EU's policy to combat climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
