Sustainable Solutions with Metal-Air Batteries
Metal-air batteries, such as zinc- and iron-air variants, offer unique benefits by using ambient air as the cathode, resulting in higher energy densities compared to traditional batteries like NMC, LFP plus Sodium Ion batteries.
The manufacture of metal-air batteries still involves environmental impacts due to mining and metal processing. However, their usage is more sustainable due to the use of more abundant materials. End-of-life recycling processes are still not fully commercialised, however companies like AlumaPower Corporation are making great strides to produce Al-air batteries from #recycled aluminum.
FuturEnergy Ireland has also selected iron-air batteries for their 1GWh energy storage project due to their low cost, use of abundant materials, and Long-Duration Energy Storage (#LDES) capability.
Biyat Energy & Environment Ltd helps companies by providing turnkey engineering solutions that protect the environment and improve energy efficiency.
We assist in selecting the appropriate technology roadmaps, understanding their environmental impacts, and facilitate the delivery of bespoke manufacturing and assembly processes, in addition to large-volume facility design and build projects - driving world-class sustainable thinking throughout the project lifecycle.
